BONN KANBENDA AND PCHUM BENDA
Alms Commitment & Commemoration Day Celebration
The Alms Commitment and the Commemoration Day celebration is dedicated to the spirits of the deceased as an act of gratitude to ancestors, grandparents, parents, teachers, and relatives who departed from lives. This celebration is performed in accordance with the instruction motioned in one of the Tripitaka scriptures named Sutanta Pitaka. It also cites the merits of the celebration, how it helps the under privileged spirits to be relieved from their sufferings. The Alms time period occurs between the opening and closing days. During this period, the community members may sign the volunteer schedule for serving so that someone will be present at all times to make Alms Offerings and serve the monks and nuns who reside in the temple.
This is an opportunity for you to express your gratitude and thankfulness to dedicated deceased persons and your compassion to those who are suffering. We hope you can join us for this meaningful ceremony to build up merits and extend compassion and loving kindness to all living beings.
